RELEASE #33 IS LIVE AND PLEASE WELCOME THE PAGE DRAFTS CREATIVE TEAM!

This months release is an exciting one, its the inaugural event for the first Page Drafts Creative Team ever! How exciting is that!!!!! If you missed the post introducing you to the Nifty ladies scoot over HERE to meet them. I'm sure you'll love them and their amazing galleries. It would also be so awesome if you could leave them a message welcoming them into the Page Drafts community!

Release #33 is Volume 4 of a series called 'Passport to the World'. The other 3 volumes are being re-released this month the links are further down in this post. They are nice and simple designs using the same formatted photo size, teeny tiny ones! Many of us tend to scrap the standard sized photo's and hey that is okay but the idea for these releases is to give you a little nudge in trying to use passport size photos or photobooth style strips, which are a tonne of fun to scrapbook. I am sure you'll find these sketches helpful if you have always wanted to try using smaller photos.

 ...lets check out our
AUGUST NIFTY
ON HOW TO SCRAPBOOK WHILST ON HOLIDAY!
This months tips were inspired by a June GSO by Gail Macaulay called 'On Holiday'.
Her clever and genius way to scrapbook a page whilst on holiday got me thinking about those hours spent deliberating over what scrappy stash you should take on holiday? If ever you have gone camping or caravanning you know what I am talking about. Space is of the premium, and to take what you would normally take to a crop or retreat just does not work, afterall the BBQ and kayak takes precedence doesnt it?! Check out these simple nifty tips and tricks to get you organised ready for a few stolen creative moments whilst out bush or in a luxury resort!

Tip 1: Grab a shoe box this is going to be your little treasure trove of scrappy stash and only pack the essentials first! You can't scrap without your scissors (likely to be an issue going through customs he he) in that instance then grab a ruler. Pack some glue, sticky tape, a sheet of pop dots and a really good pen (I recommend a black fine point Sharpie perfect for journaling, doodling, zentagles etc). A small tub of white gesso or white paint to double as a base coat or as dimensional paste and one of those pocket size packs of watercolor pans. That way you can create a colour wash or flick it on for some cool splats.

Tip 2: You might like to make a mini album or two, maybe pack a smash book or a small ring bound art journal. However most caravan parks and resorts have magazines and newspapers free to use so try gessoing pages from those to create your own customised paper. What ever form of documention you use store them in a zip lock plastic bag, this will keep them safe from the elements whilst you're out and about, and doubles up as storage for all the ephemera or memorabilia you'll collect on your travels.

Tip 3: Look at your surroundings, what can you collect and use in your artwork? Think how you can create texture for your bases by collecting bits and pieces from around you. This may include leaves to glue on your project (Check customs first as you may have to declare any projects that have foliage on them.) Alternatively to avoid any issues like that you can create rubbings from them as you may find customs again wont allow you to bring vegetation over the borders.  Texture rubbings known as  'Frottage' is a fun technique and a great way to extract textures in lieu of using stencils and masks. This cool technique was immortilised by the Surrealists in particular Max Ernst.

This video gives you a tiny look into the process.
Tip 4: Try adding sand grainules with paint to create a textured base. It's an easy way to emulate texture paste that a dimensional medium might otherwise achieve.

Tip 5: If you can access a photo printing service get some prints done in the smallest format possible, either the thumbnails or slightly larger opting for the passport photo's. This way you can have photos processed as you travel, that won't take up valuable space in your luggage. Alternatively like Gail did simply showcase your photo on your mobile phone then take a picture of your project using your regular camera.

Okay so here is the August collection and all the swoon worthy eye candy the team have created...

Some of you may have noticed that I have been re-releasing the earlier sets. The reason has been to update the new logo and bring them inline with the current style. I also figured that since some of the earlier releases only included 3 sketches that I should create extra templates to keep the packs uniformed with 5 sketches per reveal which is an added bonus for you guys as you get some unexpected extra templates in time for a weekend of scrapping he he.

To check out the re-released sketches click on the images above to be redirected to the blog post or scroll up to the top and click on the SKETCH GALLERY TAB you'll also find the team has created some pages for these releases...OMG lots of extra inspiring artworks!

Happy scrapping everyone!

RELEASE #4 IS LIVE! PASSPORT TO THE WORLD VOL.1

Here is the first volume of a series called 'Passport to the World'. You'll notice each sketch includes itty bitty teeny tiny photo's. The idea is to get you scrapping smaller pictures the same size as passport shots or if you are like me love to use a great photobooth strip in your projects.

Whatever your preference in photo size its always fun to try different formats so why not step out of your comfort zone and give these little gems a go, so keep an eye out for future releases as I am sure you will like them as much as I do!
